Luis M. Barros

Luis Barros founded Leading Business Ventures (“LBV”) in 2010, and current and past affiliations and collaborations include: concurrent role as as Venture Partner of Portugal Ventures’ $800M venture capital firm its Acceleration Center and appointment as Co-Director of Innovation at MIT’s Portugal Program (MPP); Advisor to Innovation entities in Latin America and Africa, H3 Biomedicine (Eisai Co. Ltd) & the SBIR Commercialization Assistance Programs.

Mr. Barros, was formerly the Senior Vice-President of Investments at the Governor of Massachusetts’ $1B Life Sciences Center and Principal at Eli Lilly Ventures, on the team that architected these initiatives, which respectively included a Fund in which 8 co’s exited, paid back their loans and generated ~$180 million in equity or acquisition proceeds; and 5 exits in a portfolio that syndicated ~$337M in financing.

He held roles as Executive Vice-President at IC Sciences (holding co. of the co-founding family of Boston Scientific), U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC); and startups that were respectively by publicly-traded co’s. Mr. Barros is in the Executive Doctorate Program at the University of Pennsylvania and has degrees from MIT Sloan (MBA) and UMASS Amherst (BBA), and graduate Harvard Business School’s Executive Program on Board Leadership.
