Steve MacLellan

Steve MacLellan is a founding partner of Blue Sky Management & Research, a Cambridge, Massachusetts strategic advisory company.  Blue Sky works with technology companies to help them maximize their potential and help create the future.  Current client products include secure mobile biometric authentication to breakthrough medical imaging.  Blue Sky works with companies at all stages of their growth and brings experience to solve challenges encountered in product development, team management, funding, and profitable exits.

Steve worked most recently for Fidelity Investments in Boston for over 26 years.  At Fidelity, Steve was the Senior Vice President responsible for cyber security and global information security solutions.  Steve also worked for BayBanks (now Bank of America), Charles T. Main Engineers, and John Hancock in technology and IT management roles.  Steve is a founder of SecuritiNet, a start-up focused on securing eHealth transactions across US providers. Steve also operates Blue Sky Management & Research that provides angel venture capital funding to early stage start-ups.

Steve is a senior IT leader with deep technical and extensive management experience and a solid reputation for innovation, problem solving, and solution delivery.  Steve has been a successful executive in building and motivating organizations to deliver outstanding performance and winning business results.   Steve has earned a reputation as an industry expert on cyber security and using security technologies for competitive advantage, especially at Internet scale.

Steve is on advisory boards for Lancope, nCrypted Cloud, SecuritiNet, and SameBug.  He has extensive speaking experience at industry, government, and private events on advanced IT and information security topics.  In 2011 Steve helped establish the Advanced Cyber Security Center in partnership with Mass Insight Global Partnerships.  In 2014 Steve participated in the MIT Building Global Innovation (BGI) program as a judge and adviser for European start-ups.  He was a judge in the 2012 and 2014 Mass Challenge competitions, an annual global accelerator program and startup competition.  Steve works with several Boston area charitable organizations including the Boys & Girls Clubs of Dorchester.
